They weren't traditional 3-lane chokepoint meat grinders but they weren't overtly complicated with multi-directional flank routes. I like the maps overall, though I'm finding it difficult to remember them off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more inherent balance issues but apart from these things, nothing jumped off the page from a few hours of play. Getting kills with them is extremely difficult due to poor damage, making it more viable to just reload your rifle and keep fighting instead of switching. On the other hand, pistols are across the board weak and need a buff. The majority of the weapons feel useful but the ACR and MP7 seem to have a distinct power advantage. It could help if the "detailed stats" page was updated with each attachment so you didn't have to use guess work with the bar graphs. Though the way the stat bars go red/green makes things look Dramatically impactful but when you're done, the bars look more what you expect. In comparison to Gunsmith on modern Call of Duty, this game has a clear indication of the positive/negative aspects of each attachment choice. The simple weapon attachment system is a nice statement of intent with the simplicity of the game. I quite enjoy the arcade-like nature of the movement and gunplay, it feels good overall and when the animations are polished it will probably visually look more coherent. Player movement feels fast and responsive without feeling weightless or have the stupid slide-cancelling obsession that came in MW2019. There have been a few times where I feel like I've died a split second before I could react to what's on screen. Bullets seem to have a good hit detection rate though there does seem to be a slight tick-rate delay when it comes to shooting around corners or jumping around corners. The shooting feels mostly solid with the only real jankiness being the fast reload animations. The moment-to-moment gameplay feels pretty reminiscent of the era between Modern Warfare 3 for Xbox 360 and Black Ops 3. I will include a TLDR at the bottom while the text is to give more context on what I think and why. For the record, I'm playing on Xbox Series X with a Controller. So I wanted to share my feedback on what's available just now. Having a fair amount of experience with F2P games and shooters, it's something I definitely have years of experience in. I've hit level 10 on the XDefiant Closed Cross-play test and have been following this game since its announcement.
